【Rove In Okinawa】二度もの強運に恵まれ残った宿道 - 国頭西海道：比屋根坂（恩納村）

沖縄では、復帰の前後に行われた急激な開発で、多くの自然や文化財が破壊されました。
そんな折、海洋博に伴い整備が進んでいた国道58号線の工事現場で、一つの貝塚が発見されます。そして調査により、2500年から3000年前の貝塚である事が判り、そのため急遽行われた発掘調査で周辺を調べて見ると沖縄県で初めての岩陰の住居跡とともに、琉球王朝自体の宿道である比屋根坂も発見されました。
その事で、これまで開発により、自然破壊や文化財の破壊が進んでいた事を懸念していた自然団体や文化団体を中心に、保存運動が起こり、当初の予定から、この場所を避け、海側に大きく迂回するルートに変更されました。
こうして守られた国頭西海道の比屋根坂を紹介します。
